Motoring Assist has circulated around a million
copies of their updated leaflet Personal Safety on the Road - 10th
December 2007
GEM Motoring Assist (GEM)
has revised and updated its popular publication Personal Safety on the
Road, with around one million copies having been given away free of
charge.
GEM formerly
known as the Guild of Experienced motorists has produced the booklet in
conjunction with the Suzy
Lamplight Trust, a personal safety organisation to help
motorists stay safe.

Chief Executive of GEM David Williams stated that mostly
women had received the booklet helping them to stay safe on the UK’s roads,
adding “More and more people are living and therefore often travelling alone
and we have seen a massive rise in the number of independent women who have
influential jobs that involve travel.”
He continued “Today’s professional woman needs to feel
safe and secure while going about her business or travelling for leisure and
pleasure and this booklet gives a series of important pointers.”
Contained in the booklet is information on things such as
keeping safe if you breakdown or are involved in a
road accident and
what you should do, child safety laws,
child seat selection, basic car maintenance, how to deal with road rage
attacks and not advertising you are a women travelling alone by leaving
things like bags or shoes lying around the vehicle. Copies of the Personal
