million copies of their updated leaflet Personal Safety on the
Road - 10th December 2007
GEM
Motoring Assist (GEM) has revised and updated its popular
publication Personal Safety on the Road, with around one million
copies having been given away free of charge.
GEM formerly known as the Guild of
Experienced motorists has produced the booklet in conjunction
with the Suzy Lamplight
Trust, a personal safety organisation to help motorists stay
safe.
Chief Executive of GEM David Williams stated
that mostly women had received the booklet helping them to stay
safe on the UK’s roads, adding “More and more people are living
and therefore often travelling alone and we have seen a massive
rise in the number of independent women who have influential
jobs that involve travel.”
He continued “Today’s professional woman
needs to feel safe and secure while going about her business or
travelling for leisure and pleasure and this booklet gives a
series of important pointers.”
Contained in the booklet is information on
things such as:
keeping safe if you breakdown
or are involved in a
road accident and
what you should do,
child safety laws,
child seat selection,
basic car maintenance,
how to deal with road rage attacks
and not advertising you are a women
travelling alone by leaving things like bags or shoes lying
around the vehicle.
