Car owners turning to car covers to protect their vehicles

SPEEDING CARS

Car covers are increasingly being used by motorists to protect their vehicles when parked for long periods  - 8th January 2008

More and more car owners are acquiring car covers to prevent vehicle damage caused by vandals whilst their cars are left parked up, particularly overnight. A leading automotive spares supplier claims that scratches from keys and coins, and wing mirrors and aerials being snapped off, are concerning many of the UK's motorists.

This has lead to many motorists looking to give their cars more protection from vandals whilst parked, with many doing this in the form of car covers, in an attempt to prevent needless claims on their motor insurance policies.

The car covers help prevent mindless damage and theft of the vehicle whilst parked up, most of the vandalism being caused on Friday and Saturday nights by people who have been drinking. Many people drive their car after vandalism whilst it is in an unroadworthy condition, which in turn could lead to preventable road accident claims. Around 28 percent of people are concerned that they live in an area with an anti-social behaviour problem that leads to deliberate vandalism the British Crime Survey for 2006-2007 has revealed.
