WHIPLASH NEWS Research by Thatcham indicates
that more than 125,000 car occupants may suffer whiplash injury due to
inadequate head rests positioning and other "in car " issues - 28th
March 2007
UK motorists are
being advised to understand the dangers of
whiplash-related injuries following concerns that many drivers could
be vulnerable to injury by failing to take the necessary precautions.
Research conducted by Thatcham
estimates that more than 125,000 people, drivers and passengers could be
injured in whiplash related incidents each year as a result of not
properly adjusting their headrests.
It is also
thought that more than 60 per cent of drivers have their head restraints
in the wrong position, significantly increasing the risk of injury.
|
This is despite evidence showing that car manufacturers
are doing more to provide safer vehicles. "These figures are shocking,"
according to Matthew Avery of Thatcham.
"More than 125,000 whiplash injuries could be prevented in
this country each year if people took a little time out to save their
necks." If you were involved injured whilst travelling in a vehicle, you may
be ale to claim. For more on car
