The police once again make their
views known regarding eating behind the wheel - in short DON'T
DO IT! - 20th March 2007
In a recent case the police have shown that
they will clamp down on drivers caught eating food whilst
controlling a motor vehicle.
As mobile phone laws become tougher, the
public seem to have taken their eye off a long standing law that
one cannot consume food whilst driving.
Eating a mars bar, swigging a drink might
all be considered against the law and as one driver in Runcorn
discovered you could get penalised.
This chap was found to be eating a cheese
and pickle sandwich when he was spotted. He received a £60 fine
and 3 penalty points on his licence.
If you were to have an car accident whilst
eating food the penalty would undoubtedly be more severe. In
summary DONT EAT AND DRIVE. Its the only way to ensure safety
for you, your passengers and other road users.
