Car insurance companies welcome the arrival of
electronic policy issuing - 22nd November 2007
The introduction
of electronic motor insurance certificates is being welcomed by the UK's
insurance companies.
It will enable
drivers to have instant access to their insurance documents if they have
access to e-mail. This comes after the
Department for Transport announced that insurance companies would
now be allowed to issue car insurance certificates electronically via
e-mail, this speeds up the process with the certificates arriving at the
designated e-mail account almost instantly.

Uninsured
drivers are more likely to be involved in
hit and
run incidents driving off from
road accidents they are
involved in. The insurance comparison website
insurancewide.com thinks this is
a sensible move and will benefit newly insured drivers who sometimes wait
days or even weeks for their documentation to arrive.
Chief executive James Harrison said with the police are
cracking down on uninsured drivers, those who do not have their insurance
certificate with them if stopped risk unnecessary fines or even vehicle
confiscation. It is estimated that the new technology could save car
insurance companies between £5 million and £10 million pounds a year. |
