Motoring charity IAM has appointed Vice
Chairman Alistair Cheyne OBE to the position of Chairman
- 6th September 2009
The Institute for Advanced
Motorists (IAM) has appointed Alistair Cheyne OBE as
successor to David Kenworthy as its new chairman; Alistair
formerly held the position of Vice Chairman.
IAM aims to increase driver and rider skills alike, and so
reduce the number of car accidents and
motorcycle and cycling
accidents on the UK's roads.
The IAM is a charity that provides advanced driving and riding
programmes, and once the advanced tests are passed provides
continued support to maintain those skills.
IAM also help many organisations by improving driving standards,
so reducing road accident claims and improving fuel consumption.
Alistair commented: “There is no greater contribution to road
safety than helping drivers and motorbike riders to maintain and
develop their road skills. And no one has a better claim than
the IAM to lead the campaign for safer driving and riding.
“We have an unmatched, UK-wide pool of advanced driving groups,
a respected policy and research operation and a revitalised
commercial arm, providing occupational driver training to
industry.”
