Research carried out by Churchill Car
Insurance suggests computer engineers are the worst drivers
- 10th September 2009
Insurance data analysed from the last three years
car accident claims
has found computer engineers to be the most likely to be
involved in a road accident.
The category of drivers that are least likely to make a
car accident claim on
their insurance was found to be farmers.
New research suggests that there are links between the
likelihood of people being involved in a
car accident
and their profession.
Head of Churchill Car
Insurance, who carried out the research, Tony Chilcott
suggested that the increased risk of some professional groups of
being involved in a car
accident was probably due to stressful jobs and long hours,
in professions such as computer engineers, doctors, sales
managers and chefs.
When drivers are tired or stressed they are more likely to get
distracted and not be fully concentrating on their driving, this
in turn leads to an increased chance of them being involved in a
car accident.
Farmers on the other hand who work in rural areas, which are
likely to be tranquil compared to a busy office and have less
traffic on the roads, are far less likely to be involved in a
road accident.
