aiming to reduce road deaths as a result of drink and drug
driving - 8th

Road Safety Minister Jim Fitzpatrick has unveiled a £1.6 million
anti-drink and drug drive campaign in time for the festive
period.
Road accident deaths as a result of drink driving in the
UK have been reduced by around three quarters since 1979
after more than thirty years of Government campaigns.
More can still be done, there were 460 drink driving
related fatalities in
road accidents during 2007 which
is still far too many.
This years THINK!
Campaign is being sponsored by Coca-Cola which means
many pubs will be running buy one get two free
promotions to designated drivers.
The campaign will not only be being advertised in pubs,
it will also be running on TV and radio throughout
December and online and in cinemas around Christmas.
There are over half a million drivers stopped in the UK
for breath tests each year, more than the average during
December. The Police are in many cases now using digital
breathalysers as part of a £2 million investment by
the Department for
Transport, which enable more tests and give more
accurate readings.
