Not all injury suffered in road crashes
gets reported hindering statistics
- 29th July 2009
Many road crash
victims who have suffered injuries in a
road accident do not
report their injuries research has revealed.
All fatal accidents are reported to the police, however not all
injuries are reported from other
road accidents claim
the UK Statistics
Authority who carried out the study.
The report concludes that the missing data therefore makes
published road safety statistics misleading in certain aspects.
With improvements in onboard safety in vehicles it could also
mean that the gap in statistics is getting worse as people
suffer fewer injuries in
car crashes as a result of these improvements and don't
bother to report the accident.
