Research has found that for most women
the top priority in a new car is safety
- 17th September 2009
Whilst buying a car most women choose safety as their main
buying requirement, even though they often don't know what
safety features it will offer them if they are involved in a
car accident.
Research carried out across Europe by the
eSafetyAware! Campaign
on behalf of the AA, found that although for most women safety
was the top priority, they knew 30% less about certain safety
features than their male counterparts.
The research which was conducted across Europe showed that only
41% of UK drivers were knowledgeable about recent safety
improvements, this compared to 71% of Germans.
Car showrooms in the UK still appear in most cases to fail to
inform buyers about vehicles safety features, preferring instead
to focus on looks, performance and price.
Considering women have a say in approximately 7 out of 10 new
car purchases, and in most cases see safety as their number one
priority, the penny appears not to have dropped for many car
salesmen.
Many modern safety features could help save lives or prevent
serious injury if the vehicle is involved in a
car accident, so
perhaps it is time car sales promote
car safety
at point of sale and catch up with their German counterparts.
