Up to two million caravanning holidaymakers
will fail to carry out basic safety checks and maintenance on
their caravans before use - 21st June 2008
This year an
estimated two million caravanning holidaymakers will fail to
carry out basic safety checks like ensuring
tyre pressures are correct according to tyre specialists
Protyre.
This will
increase their chances of being involved in a
road accident.
Technical Information officer for the
Camping
and Caravanning Club Barry Norris commented that vehicles
should be maintained all through the year adding:
"Tyres are a
major factor in caravan safety and the club encourages caravanners to check their tyres regularly and not to forget
that age deterioration can be a real problem".
Tyres on all road
vehicles should be checked for damage and that their pressures
are correct on a regular basis.
They are a vehicles only contact
with the road and badly maintained tyres can significantly
increase the chances of a vehicle being involved in a
road accident.
