Vehicle damage only claims
If your vehicle has been damaged in an accident on the road (and there are no
personal injuries), you may wish to claim compensation for the costs in
repairing the vehicle or replacing it in the event of a “write off”.

More on property damage only claims (no personal injury involved)
If you have
Comprehensive insurance then your own insurers will take care of the vehicle
claim for you and then seek to recover the costs from any liable party. You may
lose your no claims bonus until the money is actually recovered.
You may have
third party fire and theft or third party only cover. In which case
your insurers will not be willing to assist you with your vehicle claim. You
will be forced to make your claim directly against the other party.
Unfortunately it
may be very difficult to have a solicitor act on your behalf if you are seeking
property only damage. The reason for this is that your solicitors can only
recover their legal costs on property claims that exceed £5000. This is the
current “small claims” limit in England & Wales.
We may be able to
help you with your property damage claim. Please call us for assistance or
general advice.
